Administrative HistoryA general account of the development of Methodism in Macclesfield is given in 'A History of Macclesfield' by C. Stella Davies (1969), and a more detailed early history in 'Methodism in Macclesfield' by Benjamin Smith (1875). The dates of the unions of Macclesfield Circuits are as follows:- 
1935 - Macclesfield (Amalgamated) Circuit formed from:- Park Street (former Methodist New Connexion) Circuit. Park Green (former United Methodist Free Church) Circuit. Macclesfield (former Primitive Methodist) Circuit. Bollington Circuit.
1949 - Macclesfield Methodist Circuit formed from:- Macclesfield (Wesleyan) Circuit. Macclesfield (Amalgamated) Circuit.
